Bumbungan Eco Park - #CavEAT: Cavinti Eco-Adventure Tour part 2

DSC_0008

Welcome to my part 2 of my blog series - CavEAT: the Cavinti Eco-Adventure Tour. Our first visit in one of Cavinti’s eco tour site – the Bumbungan Eco Park. We traveled for almost 30 minutes from Sta. Cruz, Laguna and taking the Lumban-Caliraya-Cavinti Road. Bumbungan Eco Park is very common and not so famous to other visitors, because it looks like a man made falls. The over flowing water is coming from the Bumbungan River and this connects to Cavinti River going to Cavinti falls.

I think they planned to make a bridge under the Bumbungan River, but then the water over flows and it covered the entire road or bridge. And because of that, they decided to guard this and convert the entry road as the Bumbungan Eco Park site, a picnic site and also house the Cavinti Municipal Tourism Office.

Its like a spill way of a river, the over flowing river covers the entire road and then flows back again at the other side. I’m searching for an old photo of this site to compare what was its natural formation.

But then, its still nice to see a small falls here in Cavinti.

The mini falls of Bumbungan Eco Park is just a teaser of what Cavinti has to offer. As I mentioned that this is not popular to others, but for me, its very special. Because kids can play at the over flow area, and people can have a dip of the cold water that came from mt. Banahaw.

But my plan next time is to test if this over flow is a good spot for skim boarding. I just wished that I have my skim board with me, but I will test this soon and try if this can add a new watersport site for Cavinti.

My other idea is to use an inflatable kayak to paddle around at the other side of Bumbungan River, it’s a calm river but it’s deep and all shining green.

I’m still amazed that the people of Cavinti brings us closer to water nature. If ever I know that we will visit this first, I should have suit up my ready to be wet attire.

I also spotted some locals enjoying the free wash from the Bumbungan river, one lady is at the other side of the bridge washing their clothes, and then I saw two kids playing at the over flow, I think the lady below is the mom of the two kids.

If you want to enjoy the water nature at Bumbungan Eco Park, take note of the entrance fee and other fees:

Environmental Protection Fee
Day: PHP 10
Night: PHP 20

Cottage:
Day: PHP 150
Night: PHP 200

Lifevest rental - PHP 10
Timbulan - PHP 20

Herald!! What's a timbulan?????

update: Herald said that "timbulan" is a local term meaning- a floater or a salbabida

Here’s the part of the Bumbungan River that will over flow to the Bumbungan mini road / bridge. I can imagine now that I’m there paddling my inflatable kayak.

There’s a piece of timber at the over flow area, locals said that the the tree was carried away by strong river current during the typhoon and it landed here for good. It’s a nice piece, I hope they can preserve it and let nature wash it away.

Here are the cottages, they have two kinds
1. the covered cottages with walls
2. the no wall cottages. I think they use to place this in the middle of the over flow, just to experience eating your lunch while a cold water is flowing under you. It reminds me of that lunch in Villa Escudero.

Here where I ate my breakfast hahaha.

Cavinti Tourism team prepared a delicious local breakfast food for us. Dinuguan Cavinti!!!
It’s the yummiest dinuguan ever! plus with Puto…a perfect match to a dinuguan.
Their version is made up of internal organs and intestine of the pig, and its good! the best nga!

Here we met Ms. Nitzshell Dela Torre of Cavinti Municipal Tourism, she also did the briefing to us about Cavinti and their upcoming plans. I throw up a lot of questions about the upcoming watersports competition, I do hope that they can still put more info and details about that event.

Also, we met here her partner Ms. Nina Abarquez, who guided us for two days.

also, our tour guide and organizer, Mr. Herald Bebis is with us, he mentioned that he is not from Cavinti, but his wife and kid is a local of Cavinti, and he is here to help promote and boost tourism.

As they say, Cavinti, Laguna is the next tourist destination this summer, right after, Tagaytay City, Cavite. I agreed because they got the cold weather and also lots of nature wonders. They also have the famous Cavinti Falls aka Magdapio falls and formerly known as Pagsanjan Falls.

Here I was awaken by the truth that the famous and old Pagsanjan falls is in the hearts of Cavinti, Laguna and not in Pagsanjan, Laguna. But whoever owns it, both town benefits from it because it attracts lots of visitors every day.

I don’t’ have much photo of our activity here in Bumbungan Eco Park, we were here to eat our breakfast by the river and also for the briefing about the tour. If ever you will visit Cavinti, Laguna, I suggest you drop by here first and eat your picnic lunch before heading to town.

Make sure you hold hands of your kid if you will let them play here, the river current is unpredictable and the pavement might be slippery. Pls play around and enjoy nature with caution.
